Like Kanha, thousands of people are waiting to walk again. You can help them right away by choosing to donate. In the longer term, by donating through a bequest by will, life insurance policy, or donor-advised fund, you will enable our teams to carry out our work in nearly 60 countries for as long as necessary.
Donating through a bequest by will, life insurance policy, or donor-advised fund is invaluable. It will help support thousands of lives, including Kanha’s, whom our teams have supported since 2005.
2005
Seriously injured by explosive remnants of war when she was only 6 years old, Kanha had to have her right leg amputated. She was in first grade at the time. She stopped going to school for 7 months.
2006
Her mother then took her to the rehabilitation center in Kampong Cham,
where she was cared for by the teams at Humanity & Inclusion. Equipped with her first prosthesis, Kanha underwent rehabilitation sessions and was able to learn to walk again.
2012
Now that she is independent again, the little girl has been able to attend school like other children, staying with an aunt so she could be closer to her high school. Her family received a small motorcycle from Humanity & Inclusion so that her mother could take her to school every day.
2023
Kanha works at a clothing store in Phnom Penh. Although she was initially interested in fashion and design, Kanha recently decided she wanted to become an orthotist. Humanity & Inclusion continues to support her so she can resume her studies and achieve her dream. She travels to the center in Kampong Cham once a year for a routine checkup.
