A moto accident that changed Akram life

Akram Anwar Al-Alaimi, 14, is from Al-Hudaydah, Yemen. In August 2025, he had a serious motorcycle accident that resulted in a fractured femur, leaving him unable to move or walk. The injury not only affected his mobility but also caused him to fall into depression. He was confined to his bed and felt desperate.

For weeks, Akram struggled with pain. He was completely dependent on his family to perform even the simplest tasks, such as going to the bathroom, which deeply affected his sense of dignity and self-worth.

Rehabilitation changed everything

In October 2025, he began receiving support from HI at Al-Thawra Hospital in Hodeidah, and everything changed. He started attending physical therapy and psychological support sessions. Akram responded remarkably well to treatment — slowly regaining movement, strength, and confidence.

Akram completed a rehabilitation program consisting of 12 sessions. To support his continued participation, he received transportation assistance to cover travel costs to and from the rehabilitation centre.

First step: to move with crutches

HI first provided him with crutches and a commode chair — essential devices that played a vital role in improving his functional abilities. These tools allowed him to stand again, move gradually, and participate more actively in his rehabilitation.

Akram is a skilled football player who dreams of returning to the field one day, stronger than before. His love for the sport has always been his source of joy and ambition. Alongside this, Akram also leads a musical band that performs at events and celebrations.

Akram is doing well now and will resume school next year.
